Account Re-Approval: What Notaries Need to Know

Your BlueNotary account is approved based on the personal and notary commission information you provide during verification. To help keep your account accurate and your notary credentials properly verified, certain changes to this information require your account to be reviewed and approved again.

If you're seeing a message that your account will be sent for re-approval, let's understand what that means, what to expect, and how it affects your access to notary features.

Why does my account need to be re-approved?

When you change information that is used to verify your identity or notary commission, we need to make sure your updated information still meets the requirements for your approved notary account. This additional review helps ensure that the information associated with your account remains accurate and up to date.

It does not mean that there is a problem with your account. It simply means that certain changes require us to verify your information again before you can continue performing notarial activities.

What changes require re-approval?

Changes to certain personal or commission information may require your account to be re-approved.
This can include changes to:

  • First, middle, or last name
  • Commission number
  • Commission state, county, or city
  • Commission expiration date

These details can be important to your identity or notary commission, so changes to them may require additional verification.

What happens when I save my changes?

If your changes require re-approval, you'll see a confirmation message before the changes are saved. This gives you an opportunity to understand what will happen before you continue. If you choose to continue:

  1. Your updated information will be saved.
  2. Your account will be submitted for re-approval.
  3. Your access to do/create session will be temporary restricted.
  4. Your account will remain under review until the updated information has been approved.

If you select Cancel, your changes won't be saved and your account will remain in its current status.

What will I be able to do while my account is under review?

You will still be able to access your BlueNotary account, but notary activities and certain notary features will be temporarily restricted. While your account is under review, you won't be able to:

  • Create new notarization sessions
  • Access your Journal or session records

What if I need to perform a notarization while my account is under review?

You won't be able to perform notarial activities that require an approved account while your re-approval is pending. If you know you'll need to perform notarizations, it's a good idea to make any necessary updates to your personal or commission information ahead of time, rather than immediately before a scheduled notarization.

Your account will be reviewed as soon as possible. The exact time can vary depending on the information that needs to be reviewed. We'll notify you by email when the review is complete.

What if I already have an account under review?

If your account is already under review, making additional updates to your personal or commission information won't start a separate review. Your changes can still be saved and will be considered as part of your account's existing review.

What if I need help with my re-approval?

If you've submitted an update and your account is waiting for re-approval, you can contact BlueNotary Support for assistance. Our Support team can help you understand the status of your review and make sure you have everything needed to complete the process. Providing any requested information promptly can help avoid unnecessary delays.
