What We Accept

We accept two things, and both have to come from your state:

1. Your official RON Approval Certificate issued by your Secretary of State (SOS) or Department of State (DOS). This can be a photo, screenshot, or pdf works fine.
2. A screenshot of your RON credentials from your state's official notary lookup site.

Please also ensure you have indicated to your SOS/DOS that you will be using BlueNotary as your vendor/technology provider. Also, check out What States Have Approved BlueNotary for their Notaries

What Your Document Needs to Show

Whichever option you use, we need to be able to read:

• Your RON, Remote Online Notary, or eNotary designation
• Your full legal name, matching the name on your BlueNotary account. If your commission includes a middle name or initial, your account needs it too.
• Your commission or notary ID number
• Your commission expiration date
• Vendor or technology provider information, if your state lists it

If any of these are missing or unreadable, we'll have to send it back, which slows your approval down.

What We Can't Accept

• Document confirming only traditional notary public credentials
• Training course certificates, exam results, or course completion documents (including NNA)
• Screenshots from third-party notary directories or search sites
• Documents for a commission that has already expired

State-Specific Requirements

Alaska and Connecticut: These are Remote Ink Notarization (RIN) states, not RON. There is no separate RON approval document to submit, so please upload your commission certificate or screenshot from the state's database confirming your notary details.

New York: Please upload your email confirming your exemplar submission from your state. After receiving approval for ron with your state, you will be required to submit your exemplar right after, please upload a screenshot of that email as your RON Approval Document. Here is how you can create your NY Exemplar on your BN account.

Texas: You must upload the notarized Texas Online Notary Public Commission certificate you received from the Texas SOS after receiving your RON approval. A screenshot of the state website will not be accepted for Texas.

Pennsylvania. Along with your document, we have to approve your application on the PA notary portal. Once you've submitted your application stating that you will be using BlueNotary as your vendor, please reach out to us so we can complete that step.

Wisconsin. After you apply and add BlueNotary as your vendor, reach out to us with your Notary ID so we can process your approval on the Wisconsin portal. This step means Wisconsin approvals usually take a little longer than other states.
