How It Works - Signer View

BlueNotary allows you to have your documents notarized securely online from your computer or mobile device. Here's what to expect during the process.

Step 1: Open Your Invitation

You'll receive an email invitation from your notary. The invitation includes:

  • Information about the session
  • Requirements for joining the session
  • A Get Started button to Join the session.

The email also lets you know what you'll need before joining:

  • A government-issued ID
  • A device with a camera and microphone
  • Approximately 15 minutes to complete the session

Step 2: Check Your Device

Before entering the session, you'll be able to:

  • Test your camera
  • Verify your microphone
  • Check your speaker settings

When everything is working properly, click Join Session.

Step 3: Complete Identity Verification

To protect all parties and comply with legal requirements, you'll need to verify your identity. Depending on the session requirements, you may be asked to:

  • Enter your name and date of birth
  • Provide the last four digits of your Social Security number
  • Enter your residential address
  • Complete Knowledge-Based Authentication (KBA) questions or Biometrics Verification as the session demands.

These questions are based on information that only you should know.

Step 4: Verify Your Government ID

You'll then upload or photograph a government-issued ID, such as:

  • Driver's license
  • Passport
  • Other supported identification documents

Upload images of the front and back of your ID when prompted. BlueNotary will process and verify your identification.

Step 5: Meet with Your Notary

Once your identity has been verified, you'll enter the live video session with your notary.
During the session, your notary will:

  • Confirm your identity
  • Review the document
  • Guide you through the signing process
  • Complete the notarial ceremony

Step 6: Sign Your Document

When it's time to sign, BlueNotary will highlight the required fields.
You can:

  • Use an existing saved signature
  • Draw a new signature
  • Type your signature
  • Upload a signature image

Complete all required fields as instructed by your notary.

Step 7: Receive Your Notarized Document

After both you and your notary have completed the signing process, the session will be finalized and your notarized document will be available for download.
The entire process is completed online, allowing you to securely notarize your documents from virtually anywhere.
