API & Webhooks for your Business Workflows
Integrate BlueNotary directly into your existing applications and automate your notarization workflow with API Integration and Webhooks. Together, these Premium Integration features allow your systems to create sessions, monitor progress, receive real-time updates, and retrieve completed documents automatically, reducing manual work and keeping your applications in sync.
BlueNotary API
The BlueNotary REST API allows developers to integrate online notarization directly into their applications or business processes. Using API keys, you can securely connect to both Sandbox and Production environments, making it easy to build, test, and deploy your integration.
With the API, you can automate the entire notarization lifecycle, including:
- Creating notarization sessions
- Uploading documents
- Inviting signers and participants
- Monitoring session status
- Retrieving completed documents
- Managing your notarization pipeline programmatically
The Sandbox environment lets you safely develop and test your integration without affecting live data. Once you're ready, simply switch to your Production API keys to begin processing real notarization sessions.
Webhooks
While the API lets your application communicate with BlueNotary, Webhooks keep your application informed whenever something changes. Instead of repeatedly checking for updates, BlueNotary automatically sends a notification to your configured endpoint whenever a subscribed event occurs. This enables real-time communication between BlueNotary and your systems.
You can subscribe to events such as:
- Session created
- Session updated
- Session completed
- Other supported platform events
Webhook payloads are secured using request signatures, allowing your application to verify that each notification was sent by BlueNotary before processing it.
Why Use API & Webhooks Together?
The API and Webhooks are designed to work together. The API allows your application to create and manage notarization sessions, while Webhooks notify your systems whenever important events occur. For example, your application can use the API to create a new session, then rely on Webhooks to receive automatic notifications when the session is updated or completed. Once the session is finished, your application can use the API again to retrieve the finalized documents and continue any downstream workflows.
This combination helps you:
- Automate manual processes
- Keep internal systems synchronized in real time
- Reduce repetitive status checks
- Integrate BlueNotary with CRMs, document management systems, and other business applications
- Build scalable, end-to-end notarization workflows
Whether you're processing a few notarizations each week or managing thousands of transactions, API Integration and Webhooks provide the flexibility to build a seamless, automated experience tailored to your business.
