How to Turn Off Your VPN or Private Relay

If BlueNotary can’t verify your connection, a VPN, proxy, or Private Relay may be interfering with the connection check. Follow the steps below for your device, then return to BlueNotary and select Recheck connection.


Choose your device:

  1. Windows
  2. Mac
  3. iPad


Windows - Turn off a VPN

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select Network & Internet → VPN.
  3. Find your active VPN connection and select Disconnect.

If you use a separate VPN app, such as NordVPN, ExpressVPN, or another VPN service, open the app and disconnect the VPN.


Turn off a proxy

  1. Open Settings → Network & Internet → Proxy.
  2. Turn off Use a proxy server if it is enabled.

Return to BlueNotary and select Recheck connection.


Mac - Turn off a VPN

  1. Open System Settings.
  2. Select VPN.
  3. Find your active VPN and switch it Off or select Disconnect.

If you use a separate VPN app, open the app and disconnect the VPN there as well.


Turn off Private Relay

  1. Open System Settings.
  2. Select your name → iCloud.
  3. Select Private Relay.
  4. Turn Private Relay off.

Return to BlueNotary and select Recheck connection.


iPad - Turn off a VPN

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select General → VPN & Device Management.
  3. Select VPN.
  4. Turn the VPN Off.

If your VPN is managed through a separate app, open that app and disconnect the VPN.


Turn off Private Relay

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap your name → iCloud.
  3. Tap Private Relay.
  4. Turn Private Relay off.

Return to BlueNotary and select Recheck connection.


Still can't connect?

Some office, school, or public networks use a proxy or network configuration that you may not be able to turn off. Try connecting through a different network. Your phone's hotspot is usually the quickest option. If you're still blocked, select Get help and our team can help you troubleshoot the connection.
