Device Requirements for a RON session on BlueNotary

To complete a Remote Online Notarization (RON) session on BlueNotary as a Notary, you’ll need a desktop or laptop computer with a working camera, microphone, speakers, supported web browser, and stable internet connection.


For a basic BlueNotary RON workstation, we recommend a modern Windows or Mac laptop with at least 8 GB of RAM, 128 GB of SSD storage, a built-in webcam and microphone, an up-to-date Chrome browser, and a stable internet connection with at least 40 Mbps upload speed.


For the best and smooth experience, we recommend using:

  • Desktop or a laptop
  • Working webcam (built-in or external)
  • Working microphone (built-in or external)
  • Speakers or headphones
  • Stable internet connection
  • Up-to-date web browser (Chrome works best)


Can I Use an iPad?

Yes. An iPad can be used for BlueNotary sessions, provided it has a compatible browser, working camera and microphone, and a stable internet connection. For someone purchasing a device specifically for professional RON work, however, a Windows laptop or Mac laptop is the recommended primary setup because it provides a larger workspace and is better suited to managing the full notarization workflow.


Browser

BlueNotary runs in a web browser, so no special software or application download is required. For the best experience, we recommend using Chrome. Safari, Edge, and Firefox can also be used when needed.


Before You Start a Session

  1. Check if you are not using some VPN or Proxy network
  2. Make sure you are not behind some firewall (like Office Firewall, Country Firewall)
  3. Make sure no other video call is going on in Google Meet / Zoom / Microsoft Teams or any other video calling software


For the smoothest experience:

  • Close other video-call applications such as Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams.
  • Close applications that may be using your camera or microphone.
  • Disconnect unnecessary webcams or other audio/video devices.
  • If possible, avoid using recording software such as OBS during the session.
  • Make sure your browser is up to date.
  • Allow camera and microphone permissions when prompted.
  • Test your camera and microphone before joining.
  • You are not using any VPN or Proxy network.
