# How to Become an Online Notary in Missouri
To become a Remote Online Notary in MO, you must complete the following application process:

* Have an existing commission as a traditional Notary Public, or [apply for a commission](https://www.nationalnotary.org/missouri/how-to-become-missouri-notary) at the same time.
* Complete a remote Notary training course from a state-approved provider and pass the exam.
* Contract with a [state-approved RON technology provider](https://www.nationalnotary.org/missouri/how-to-become-missouri-notary).
* Complete the [remote online Notary application](https://www.sos.mo.gov/CMSImages/Business/Notary/SOS_Application_ElectronicNotaryPublic_REV.pdf) and email it to commissions@sos.mo.gov.

# Online Notary Requirements in Missouri
You must meet the following requirements:

* You must be at least 18 years old and a resident of Missouri.
* You must possess a valid driver’s license issued by any state or territory of the United States.
* You must successfully complete a notary public training program approved by the Missouri Secretary of State.
* You must complete an application form for a commission and submit it to the Commissioning Office/Secretary of State with all required documentation, including your liability insurance policy and bond.
* You must pass the state's online notary exam.
* You must pay the required application fee.
* You must purchase a notary seal, which must be registered with the Secretary of State.
